Lesser Yellowlegs at Bear River
I didn't go last Thursday to Bear river to find a rare bird but that is precisely
what happened when I spotted two small birds with bright yellow legs.
I have never seen these birds before. They were new.
It's interesting that the Lesser Yellowlegs are uncommon
and rare seen at Bear river.
Did they come for fall migration?
I think so.
wow, good photos! Lucky you to come across this guy. I have to look back at my files I believe ..in the past... I have taken photos of one but i can't remember if it might have been up here in the mountains at our local lake, or ....at the coast in central california. - seems like i have taken some. As always LOVE your photos.
ReplyDeleteAutumn begins to play its part.
ReplyDeleteThis is a new one for me .... to the best of my knowledge and recollection, I never have seen a Yellowlegs -- either a greater or a lesser. I take it they are part of the sandpiper "family" and I might be familiar with them in that sense, but am not discerning enough to recognize differences among them.
ReplyDeleteI prefer your first photograph, Kaya. The bird's pose is excellent and its reflection adds greatly to the scene.
Golden!
ReplyDeleteFine series of images. The birds are indeed on their southbound migration. Check for Lesser Yellowlegs too.
ReplyDeleteDavid, you are correct! I think that these birds are Lesser Yellowlegs because of their size.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!
