Snowy Egret in Tall Reeds - II.

Usually, when a Snowy Egret or other bird wander into the thickets of a swamp, my attempts to photograph them almost always end in failure.  That morning the heron decided to preen itself without hiding behind the plants.

A few sips of water and the heron will leave this place in a few seconds.

Generally, life is good.

Great Blue Heron Displays Its Plumage While Preening

A snowy deserted space.  A lonely Great Blue Heron froze like a stature on the thin ice covered with snow.  And suddenly, if as awaking up from its dream, the Heron moved a little bit and, to my indescribable delight, began to preen.

In instant the Heron's feathers suddenly came to life with all possible colors, shades and tones.

Life goes on.

Male Mallard Duck is Preening

It seems that Mallard ducks are everywhere.  You visit your local pond and the first bird you see is a Mallard duck.

The male Mallard Duck on the photo above lives in the Beau Park where is a little pond.  He was close to the shore and preening to look healthy and attract any female Mallard Duck that could be around.  A mating season has begun!
