Awakening

All night, the Water lily bud was closed but early in the morning it began to awake up, greeting a dragonfly.  The flower was like a smile, gradually widening.

That quiet early morning the Water lily was a solitary triumph, a silent explosion of beauty, newly awake and utterly glorious on the shimmering surface of the little pond.

I found this beautiful Water lily at our local Nature center.

Generally, life is good.

A Traveler - I.

Seeing a Double-crested Cormorant perching on a log in our local park this morning was a huge surprise. I'm still trying to figure out where he came from.

I assume that Cormorant left the nearest large pond and flew off to spend time with our geese and ducks.

Life goes on.

Female Downy Woodpecker and Male Northern Flicker in the Beau Park

A female Downy Woodpecker is taking a short break from probing bark for insects.

This Flicker appeared from nowhere, perched on the tree for a few minutes. His beak was dirty.  He is certainly probed bark somewhere else.

Generally, life is good!
