When the Mountains Disappear

Hunstville, September 2026

Morning fog rose through the mountains, revealing and hiding them.

The Empty Nest

North Arm Wild Trail, September 2026

This morning marked my return to the North Arm Wildlife Trail, a familiar stretch that had been off-limits for nearly two years.

I was heading toward the osprey nest, full of quiet anticipation. Approaching the nest brought a touch of disappointment—the nest stood empty. I had really hoped to catch even a fleeting glimpse of the birds today. Still, simply walking on the trail again was a gift in itself.

Along the Wasatch. Between Seasons

Huntsville, Middle Fork, August 2026

How different trees really are. How did I not notice this before? Why were they just trees, and suddenly they became so captivating—with personalities and life stories of their own?

Along the Wasatch. Contours of the Canyon

Sunlight lit the mountain slope and threw the gorge into shadow. The play of light was mesmerizing.

Tasha, the Field and the Sky

The sky is ever-shifting. One moment it hangs heavy with dark clouds, ready to burst into a downpour, and the next, a sudden gleam of blue breaks through, and the very thought of rain seems impossible.

A long time ago, my dog Tasha and I used to go to the field near our house - just to watch the sky.  Actually, I was the one watching; Tasha was simply content to be by my side.

Back then, I deeply wanted to become like the sky—to learn how to carry life’s hardships lightly, letting them drift by like passing storms.

It didn’t happen. But looking back, perhaps just standing in that field was enough.

Northern Utah In Transition

The darkening sky and the last traces of snow felt like two seasons holding the landscape at once — spring below, winter still lingering above.

Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge

As 2026 begins, I hold onto hope for peace, goodness, and many moments to be grateful for.

Snow is on its way, and so is a new beginning. Happy New Year!

Crossing Seasons # 2

Sometimes, quite unexpectedly, you realize that this fragile tree in its late-autumn dress has been quietly waiting for you all along.

On the Country Roads. Sunnyfield Barn

Sunnyfield, September, 2025

My relationship with this famous historic barn is… complicated. For years, I pointed my camera at it, and it stubbornly refused to cooperate—bad light, bad angles, bad mood, you name it. But this time, the barn finally gave in, as if saying, “Fine, take your picture and leave me alone"

Stories Without Endings

the beginning of the story

Not every story reaches a neat conclusion. Some drift quietly beyond our sight, unfinished, as if life itself resists finality.

In truth, some stories are not meant to be closed—they are meant to be carried and this story is one of them.

Fall in Northern Utah

A quiet walk along the reservoir’s edge, where shadows stretch long and the sky tells its own story.

On the Country Roads. Half an Hour to Sunshine

Sunflowers in Sunnyfield.

***

If someone had told me that just half an hour from home I’d stumble into sunflowers in the little town of Sunnyfield, I’d have laughed and asked, “What’s next—grizzly bears in my backyard?”

But there they were, countless golden faces staring at me as if I’d shown up late to their meeting, radiating strength and beauty.

On the Country Roads. The Barnyard Cadillac

This old red truck once ruled the county roads—hauling hay, lumber, and even a few joyriding kids.

Now “retired” he tells the barn cats stories of his glory days, waiting for the moment someone realizes he’s got one more adventure left in him.
