American Cliff Swallows and Their Young - II.

Both Cliff Swallow parents participate in caring for the young. They work tirelessly, constantly flying back and forth to the nest with insects to feed their rapidly growing offspring. 

 

Generally, life is good.

A Curious Adult Cliff Swallow

Recently I discovered a few Cliff Swallow nests. I didn't see the little ones but one curious adult at some point peeked out of the nest. 

Two years ago I was able to photograph a few juvenile Cliff Swallows.  On the photo above one of them is asking for food.

Adult Cliff Swallow with an Immature One

There were so many swallows around, flying over these couple, joining them and getting into pictures and ruining them. I wish that life would be more simple...

The immature Cliff swallow demands food. It seems that they always keep mouth open as they saying "feed me, feed me...".

I missed the moment when the adult swallow fed the young one who became calm for a while.


There are large numbers of Swallows at Bear River right now.

Asking for food.

The soft morning light was on my side when I took these pictures of immature swallows. These little ones weren't pretty yet but soon they would be beautiful,  more careful and less trusting.

Well, I have a difficult time identify these little ones.  I checked a list of swallows at Bear river and only mature Cliff swallows were similar to my swallows.
