The male Common Goldeneyes are paddling on evening parade. Their spectators are a Herring Gull who is indifferent to what is happening in front of its eyes and I.

Brave
This story happened in seconds and I didn't manage to capture it well. I am posting this story anyway, it would be sad to lose it.
A Great Blue heron is very annoyed by a gull who is circurling around. He established his territory and nobody is allowed to be there. A heron shows to a gull how big he is, how strong.
What a brave gull! Spreading her wings showing to a heron that she isn't powerless also but a heron doesn't care, he is ready to chase an intruder.
Bigger and more powerful birds almost always win.

Herring Gulls in a Dense Fog
I thought that I was the only one who took a risk to drive along the Bear river in a dense fog. Today I learned that I was not alone. Two other wildlife photographers in my area also were there.
I was also happy to learn that I photographed Herring gulls. For the first time.
That is how all my photos looked when I took them in a dense fog. Later some of them I tried to bring to life because I didn't want to lose them.

Fighting for Territory on a Foggy Morning
Yesterday I left my home on a beautiful sunny morning but in one hour I found myself in a dense fog.
I probably should return back but the drive was long and I decided to get on the dirt road along the river. That was a big mistake because soon I was driving on the muddy bumpy road with splashes of dirt covering my car.

Let's go to the fight between Herring gulls on that foggy morning.
This gull landed beautifully
and immediately started to establish her territory.
Fighting for territory. Later the invader left. She lost her fight.

I don't recommend to do bird photography in a fog but there are exceptions to the rule. I saw fantastic photographs that were taken of birds during foggy sunrise.
The morning I was taken these photos was dull gray with a dense fog and I lost a lot of photos. Not a good experience.
