Mood

 

That day in the mid-August the air was polluted, the sky was like a blank canvas and everything was muted.  I am not sure it was a good idea to take photos or not, but I tried and to my surprise the result came out interesting. 

Generally, life is good.

Two Friends

 

I have always been fascinated by grasshoppers. It's fun to watch them jump and catapult themselves into the air and listen to their long songs.

Grasshoppers can hear. They have ears on their bellies. And grasshoppers can fly!

I photographed these two friends while hiking in the Rocky Mountains.

Bumble Bee Collecting Nectar

 

It had always been a mystery to me why by the end of summer Nettledleaf Giant Hyssop lose their petals so that circles of them form around bare plant.

Last week I finally found the answer: bees collect nectar from the petals and pluck them when they are no longer needed.

In the Rocky Mountains - I

This morning I went to the SnowBasin and decided to get to the Green Pond.  On my way to the pond I photographed wild flowers that had almost finished blooming but had not yet lost their beauty. 

I was lucky for a moment, the small butterfly landed on the flower.
