The Black-crowned night heron is looking for food.
He does it mainly in the night time or early morning.
He would stand still for a long time at the water's edge
very alert looking for prey.
and then he finally would catch a frog.
He swallows a frog whole.
I missed the moment - everything happened in
seconds - when he couldn't swallow a frog and let it out of his throat for a
second and then tried to swallow again and was successful.
with a hope that it will be safe and peaceful.
Farmington Bay. Yellow-headed black bird.
Bear River Refuge. American White pelicans.
This morning I read a newsletter from the New York photographer
Leanne Staples about cliches and it felt so comforting.
"Cliches are like covers of classic songs.
You are still learning your craft. That is a good thing!
The challenge is to do it better next time.
Art can be deceptive.
It always looks easier than it is..."
This my first and the only one photograph of an American Bold eagle.
It was February and Farmington Bay was welcoming and warm.
When I saw a flock of big brown birds soaring in the sky
I thought that they are Turkey vultures.
Later looking on the screen of my camera I
was surprised that I photographed bold eagles.
It was a pure luck.
Farmington Bay. Snowy egret.
Once Robert Frank said to Annie Leibovitz that you can't take every picture. It's sometimes impossible.
That is exactly what these pictures are about. I wish that Snowy Egret would be more close. I wish that he would not hide from time to time in the grass but reality was different and I tried to take pictures anyway because it was my first encounter with this interesting bird.
In Spring, everything is full of promise...
Two geese were fighting over their territory.
It was an ugly fight and a white goose was hurt but hopefully not badly.
I feel sorry for him.
