It's unbelievable how fast little Grebes grow up. Only a week ago they were so tiny that I could hardly see them on the their mother's back but yesterday they could easily swim on their own.
In one of my previous posts I wrote about having mixed feelings for father of this family, he seldom was around the female while she was nesting but right now he is always around and fearlessly protects his offsprings and their mother.
The little Grebe on his mama's back only once went for a swim but his brother/sister stayed in the water all the time.
Soon there will be not enough of room riding on the mama's back. Meanwhile there is still plenty.
With mama the world looks nice and kind.

I was blessed this summer being able to watch this family and how they are raising their offsprings.
For a few years every summer I was looking for little Western Grebe chicks riding on the backs of their mothers but have never seen them.
Since then, much time has passed until luck finally visited me. Why it took so long? Perhaps, I wasn't ready to meet the chicks, I wasn't patient enough to stay with them for hours and wasn't sincere enough to enjoy them and love them.
