A Long-tailed Weasel on the Edge of the Road

This morning I finally was able to photograph a Long-tailed Weasel.  To see a Weasel is a real treat but to photograph him is a challenge. He moves fast and stands still only for a few seconds.

I saw the Weasel at the edge of the road, he was running with another Weasel in circles and then to my surprise he stood up to look what I was doing. He suddenly looked tall but actually he is a very tiny animal.

When he was tired running in circles on the road , he took a short rest.

The male Long-tailed Weasels are about 20-22 centimeters long and female Weasels measure 15-18 centimeters.  These animals prey on mice, rats, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, fish, worms and insects.
