Antelope Island - II. Home of Bisons
In October cowboys and cowgirls will arrive on horses to Antelope island
for the annual roundup. They will bring all bisons to the corall
where animals would be checked for health.
Meanwhile, bisons are free.
Sometimes certain species of birds are feeding on insects they find in the
Bison's fur.
The bison in the dust.
To get down and lay for a while the bison bends his front legs.
It is said that there are no longer 100% bison with wild genes. Photos are delicate. The bird's way behind the bison is beautiful as a poem.
ReplyDeleteExcellent photos. <3 I had no idea that some birds are feeding on insects they find in bisons fur. hehe Good to learn something new. :))) Fantastic post. Lovely day to you. :)))
ReplyDeleteThe bison in the fourth photograph appears to be missing part of his tail .... although, he does look young, so I suppose it might be possible that his tail is not fully formed. Correctly or incorrectly, bison forever will be buffalo to me.
ReplyDeleteAs always, superb photography, Kaya.
ReplyDeleteUn fuerte abrazo,
love the birds (are they cowbirds)...on the bison. These photos are amazing and beautiful. i had the pleasure of seeing a Bison at the perimeter of a fence on the way to Oak Glen one day. People were parking and getting out of cars to see it.
ReplyDeletePreciosa serie fotográfica. Debe imponer mucho estar tan cerca de un animal tan poderoso. Me ha encantado lo de la revisión veterinaria de los bisontes.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
