Towhees are Back!

A Towhee. He has a sunflower seed in his mouth.

A female Muscovy duck.

A Black-capped Chickadee.

A Towhee with a small seed in his mouth.

It's freezing cold and it was snowing for a few days. I didn't drive far away, just visited our local pond.

The pond is frozen and only a little part of it has water. All ducks and geese are sharing the tiny space with water and Muscovy ducks among them. They are definitely staying at the pond for the winter.

I walked to the feeders and photographed a Towhee and a Black-capped Chickadee. Later I took a few pictures of female Muscovy duck. Probably, it's not very exciting but I had a great time being with birds, watching them and photographing.

  1. As always your photographs are crisp and clear, revealing great detail on your subjects. These are all handsome birds portrayed well. If they were human they would be ordering extra copies of their portraits to send to friends.

  2. Very beautiful photos. Birds bring, through their color and naturalness, a visual pleasure.

  3. Están todas muy bien definidas. la última de todas es mi favorita porque se aprecia hasta el detalle de la semilla en el pico.

  4. I know there are towhees in this region, Kaya, but I do not recall having seen one or, in any case, realized what it was when I saw it. Now that I know what to look for, I will keep my eyes open for one. Superb photography ....
