The Black-necked Stilts have long ruby legs that are longer in proportion to their body than any other birds, except flamingos. They also have webbed feet and can swim but I have never seen them swimming. Probably, they rarely do it.
I believe that I photographed a male Black-necked Stilt. His back is solid shiny black. Females have a noticeably brown tone on their back plumage.
Which came first, the bird or the "upright poles with supports for the feet enabling the user to walk at a distance above the ground?" Either way, I think the bird is appropriately named and your photographs are appropriately impressive, Kaya.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I think the young lady in your latest painting is positively beautiful and I especially like her eyes. Your abilities as a photographer overflow into talent as an artist .... keep it up ....
they are so light !
ReplyDeleteMuy bellas capturas.

ReplyDeleteUn abrazo,
great photos, especially at the last photo
