To get up at 4:30 am this morning and later to spend a few hours watching Pelicans at Bear River was worthwhile. Even being bitten by gnats was also worthwhile because the whole experience was great. I smiled. Often. I laughed twice. I even found myself a little bit nostalgic.
No, this is not a landing. It's sliding. Almost like on ice but more elegant.
That is Love! What else can it be?
Beautifully and gently holding a feather. Amazing!
That is scratching while sliding. Only Pelicans can do it.
This moment looks like a dance. Perhaps, a Cossack Dance or something similar.
Quality of photos didn't matter. Gnats were annoying but also didn't matter. Escaping from reality even for several hours (spent seven hours at Bear River) mattered. Discovering something amazing about Pelicans and being happy about it mattered.
