For a long time I had a difficult time to identify this bird. Then one day I saw exactly the same bird in one of wildlife blogs. It was a female Red-winged Blackbird.
While the males live up to their name, the females Blackbirds are brown with streaks on their breast.
The male Blackbird is never in charge choosing a mate. The female Blackbird selects a mate.
