American Avocets on the Great Salt Lake

Last October I photographed on the Great Salt Lake American Avocets in their winter plumage before their migration.  Most of Avocets already had left the Great Salt Lake and only a few of them weren't in a hurry to start their migration.

Birds know precisely when it's time to migrate.  If they leave early,  they may run out of energy before finishing their journey.  If they leave late, they might run into bad weather along the way.

Apparently, these Avocets had their own schedule and waited for their timing.

It's better to do my stretches in a secluded place.

Generally, life is good!
