That dark grayish day at Farmington Bay the amorous pair of Avocets put on quiet a show in front of me. A time for mating has come!
A courtship started with the female keeping her body parrallel to the water showing her willingness to mate.
The male mounted the female.
And copulation began. In about a minute it would be over and the elegant post- mating dance would begin.
The pair crossed beaks in their post-mating dance.
Then they separated the beaks and walked together side by side. They became a couple!

Luckily, I was able to capture the whole process from the beginning to the end despite the low light. Unfortunately, nature isn't always perfect.
Generally, life is good!
rooming, mating, grooming ... all in wisdom.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo y cuidate.
The beak makes them cute. After the photos they have graceful movements.
