Ring-necked Male and Female Pheasants

One week ago I had an opportunity to photograph the male and female Pheasants but my better shot turned out to be of the male. He was against a better background and his red head and colors were brilliant.

I learned recently that a male Pheasant is a polygamist. He keeps a harem of a few females and protect them fearlessly against other males.

The female Pheasant.

She is very elegant with modest plumage that helps her to blend in with her habitat. I met her when she was crossing the road.  The female wasn't in a hurry, walking slowly and heading into a field.

  1. The male stands out by color. The female has a plumage that ensures a good camouflage. The first photo has picture tones.

  2. La cabeza del macho destaca con un gran nivel de detalle. La hembra, seguramente debe su color a la necesidad de camuflarse con el terreno durante la cría.
