In the Company of Snowy Egrets

From afar, the bird on the left looked shaggy, small and fragile, and I began to doubt that it was a Black-crowned Night Heron. As I approached a little closer the eyes of the bird, its behavior - everything said that it was indeed a very young Black-crowned Night Heron.

That morning the weather was not great at first, everything was so gray and dull. I wanted the sky to be clear so that there was enough light for my lens but this was clearly not expected for perhaps an hour or two.

At first, the young Night Heron was alone but soon the Snowy Egret joined him.

Soon another Snowy Egret invaded the Night Heron's territory but the young bird remained calm.  This was his territory and he was ready to share it with curious Egrets.

Generally, life is good.

  4. It's always interesting to see such a wide range of species, both in terms of size and behavioural differences ...
