These photographs were taken in late October. There weren't around many insects for the Red-Winged Blackbirds, they started to feed on the dry seeds from flowers.
This bird takes its time choosing the right flower.
Getting out of a flower the most delicious seed.
The seed is in the bird's bill.
Sometimes the Red-Winged Blackbirds are eating seeds or berries. They are also feed on insects especially in summer including beetles, grasshoppers, caterpillars and also spiders and snails.
Great shots!!
ReplyDeleteBirds have a choice and they feel at ease. Beautiful series!
ReplyDeleteSehr schöne Bilder von dem Stärling.
ReplyDeleteNoke
Nice photos. I am guessing you have one super lens.
ReplyDeleteAs you say they are feeding in the seeds, but they also seek out insect larvae that can be found in the seed pods too.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite birds - great close ups!
ReplyDeletePreciosas tomas, Kaya, eres una artista. Buen trabajo.
ReplyDeleteSaludos.
enjoy your seeds !!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy watching blackbirds flock by the hundreds in the autumn. Their flights resemble a vast school of fish turning and looping in graceful unison. Your photographs do the species justice, Kaya.
ReplyDeleteMagnificas escenas naturales, amigo...
Bonitas capturas.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
