Sandhill Cranes Are Back!

The Sandhill Cranes arrive to Northern Utah at the beginning of March and they will stay for the summer breeding season.

If you heard once a song of a Sandhill Crane you would remember it for the rest of your life. It's loud!  Here he is singing his song.

Soon the Sandhill cranes will start a courtship with their wonderful dances.

At the end the Sandhill Cranes walked together.  A beautiful couple!

  1. They are truly magnificent birds, Kaya, and deserve the admiration of all. They breed locally and I expect to see many of these birds tomorrow. Tundra Swans are also arriving in great numbers so it will be an exciting day. Wanna come?

  4. Hundreds of thousands of Sandhill cranes usually nest around the Platte River in Nebraska, but nasty weather this year -- snow, ice, freezing temperatures and now flooding -- has slowed the migration considerably. So, maybe you will have even more than usual coming to your neck of the woods this year, Kaya.

Beautiful photographs of majestic birds ....
