In the Great Blue Heron's Rookery - I.

This morning the Great Blue Herons' rookery was different, it ceased to be quiet and was surrounded with incessant loud noise.  The chicks are getting bigger and nosier.

Some couples are still building nests. In the photo above the male Great Blue delivered a thin branch to add it to the nest.   I am sure the female was very pleased.

A short stop, just to see what is going on in the nest.

In my previous post I wrote about a lone female Great Blue Heron who was standing on her nest most of the time.  This morning I noticed one egg on it.

I took this photo one week ago when I noticed a few abandoned nests on the rookery.  This morning there weren't abandoned nests anymore.

I wonder how herons found out that a few spots were available on the rookery?

Life goes on.

  5. Bonita serie. La colonia progresa, los polluelos van creciendo y otros esperan eclosionar. Dentro de poco la población de la colonia se habrá multiplicado y los polluelos terminarán emancipándose.
    Un abrazo.
