Notes to Self. American Bald Eagles

My little adventure today began at our local Nature Center, where I came to see two noble Bald Eagles—once masters of the sky, now grounded forever. They were  injured, rescued, and healed, but their wings will never touch the wind.

It ached to see them behind the wire, eagles meant for the heavens. Yet, I lifted my camera—when else would I stand so near to such fierce beauty?

Later, looking through the photographs, I thought why not set them "free".  So I have changed the background - at least in the image these raptors can soar again.

Generally, life is good.

  6. wow beautiful photos and I like what you did. We have up in Big Bear Alpine Zoo - a rehabilitation also zoo, years ago I took photos of a Bald Eagle that will probably never be set free because of injuries. I forgot all about that memory. Love these photos. Many people across the country follow the two bald eagles that have a nest and have raised babies. Some years the kids don't survive the winter but this year Jackie and Shadows two kids fledged off about two weeks or so ago.
