Lately, life has been delivering one surprise after another—and most of them, I must admit, have been far from welcome.
Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge will be closed until mid-September. In just a few weeks, construction will begin on the small bridge that has long served as our entry into the bird sanctuary.
A new temporary route for photographers and birdwatchers is expected to open, though I find little reason for enthusiasm just yet. We simply don’t know how the birds will respond to the river being diverted along this new route.

I keep telling myself that whatever is happening is happening for the best. Some days I believe it more than others.
This sudden change at Bear River MBR feels like a loss—but perhaps it is also a quiet invitation to see differently, to slow down, to step away from what I know. Maybe the birds will surprise me. Maybe I will surprise myself. For now, I am learning to wait, and to trust that something meaningful is still unfolding, even if I cannot yet see it.
Generally, life is good.

El mundo, la humanidad en cierto sentido versus la Reserva Marina del Río Bear... en la vida de Kaya.
Pareciera que lo primero es más relevante que lo segundo. ¿Lo es?
Lo primero sucede en el mundo. Y poco o nada se puede hacer por parte de cada uno. Lo segundo atañe directamente a Kaya. Y quien dice a Kaya puede señalarse a sí mismo en las diferentes situaciones "incómodas" en las cuales la vida le ha situado.
Sí, "quizás también sea una invitación silenciosa a ver las cosas de otra manera."
Sí Kaya, tal vez sea esto. "Por ahora, estoy aprendiendo a esperar y a confiar en que algo significativo aún se está desarrollando, aunque todavía no pueda verlo."
En general, la vida es buena! :)))))

ReplyDeleteHay momentos en los que parece que todo termina, que alguien ha decidido crear sombras en los demás y en sus expectativas. Hay un tiempo para la duda, para el miedo a lo nuevo, a lo desconocido a aquello que no está instalado en nuestra manera de ver las cosas. Durante este lapsus de tiempo parece que algo vuela de nuestras manos y que estas se nos quedan vacías. Nos sentimos desposeídos de aquellas certezas que desde siempre nos han aportado una cierta seguridad. En esa tesitura no queda otra cosa que hacer que tomarse un tiempo para adaptarse y confiar en que pase lo que pase, siempre estamos posibilitados para adaptarnos a los nuevos tiempos.

Seguro que todo se soluciona en el menor tiempo posible y sin causar molestias graves a las aves que allí se refugian para que tu puedas seguir regalándonos tan bellas fotografias de ese lugar.

Going thru these beautiful photos on your site. So sorry to read about the closure. Interesting, just 10 minutes ago I was reading about a somewhat local lake more in the high desert than the mountains had such damage from rain in Dec 2025 that it still isn't open. I was hoping to go there next week to see if the pelicans are there. I sure understand your sadness about this favorite area of yours. Anyway...off to see more of your beautiful photos. I won't comment on each one but I can say whatever you post is beautiful.
