A Lonely Sandhill Crane

I met this Sandhill Crane a few times before and he was always alone. I was hoping that the Crane's mate was somewhere close building her nest but right now I am not sure that this Crane has a mate.

Is it possible that the Crane lost his mate? And if it happened can he find another mate? And how soon?

The Crane landed at the place that is not his usual habitat.  He even performed a few dancing steps and they looked like courtship dances only without a mate.

Beautiful and lonely among Ibises.

The Crane didn't stay for a long time at this place, he just was passing by.

The Sandhill Cranes mate for life, they both build their nest usually in the marshes. If one member of a pair dies the other member can reuse its previous nesting area with a new mate.

If this Crane lost his mate, I wish that he will soon find another and will be happy and healthy.

  2. Las has captado maravillosamente y con mucha nitidez. Me gustan sus reflejos en el agua y las posturas distintas que adoptan en cada una de las fotografías.
