Pied-billed Grebes at Farmington Bay

In December the small area at Farmington Bay is muddy golden on cloudy days  but when the sun is out of clouds the muddy colors start to gain more golden hues.  Of course, reflections are not what you want them to be but they are still reflections and you happy to have them.

Sometimes the Pied-billed Grebes come to this small area and then American Coots join them. They are all together like one happy family, fishing, resting, bathing.

and of course preening.  That is exactly what this Grebe is doing.

After diving bird always look so touching.

Grebes jump on water for a few seconds and if you are lucky you might get one or two photos.  That morning I was lucky and you can see on the photo above a jumping Grebe.

Generally, life is good!
