If you have ever seen a Rough-legged hawk you noticed how low he flies over the ground searching for food. He scans the ground for every movement and then he immediately drops down on his prey.
These birds hunt a lot for rodents during the winter at Bear river. It's believed to be their major source of food here.
I heard the sad stories when Rough-legged hawks would take a bird on occasion. It's very sad but all creatures on this Earth have a place and a purpose and their survival is important.

Excellent shots !!
ReplyDeletedoes it have a geostationary flight, when hunting ?
Cao, I believe hawks do this type of flight but not sure.
DeleteThey also hovering in the air for a very short time when they see a prey.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
A natural arrow.
ReplyDeleteA sharp look.
ReplyDeleteBesos
ReplyDeleteso many beautiful pictures of nature you show! I'm delighted!
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
prey - predator relationship to check the nature in balance.....
ReplyDelete# Perfect shots
Son las dos fantásticas amiga. Pilladas en pleno vuelo. Así es la naturaleza, cazar para vivir.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
I learned something new - never have seen one of these types of hawks before. Maybe I have but didn't know it
