Looking for Prey

If you have ever seen a Rough-legged hawk you noticed how low he flies over the ground searching for food. He scans the ground for every movement and then he immediately drops down on his prey.

These birds hunt a lot for rodents during the winter at Bear river. It's believed to be their major source of food here.

I heard the sad stories when Rough-legged hawks would take a bird on occasion. It's very sad but all creatures on this Earth have a place and a purpose and their survival is important.

    1. Cao, I believe hawks do this type of flight but not sure.
They also hovering in the air for a very short time when they see a prey.
