Owls are nocturnal birds but Short-eared Owls are often active during sunrise, early mornings and evenings. The Owl I met this early morning might be the one I saw before because it was again close to the road and on the same sign.
The Owl was sitting on the National Wild Refuge sign as if she was advertising it.
The Owl is ready to take off. It's interesting that birds before taking off during sunrise often are heading East toward the rising sun.
Taking off. The wings are down. Looks a little bit funny like a giant moth.
The Short-eared Owls do have ears but they are invisible.

cute bird....
ReplyDeleteOh how cute, such an attractive owl. This is really a great post, so many beautiful photos. They’re amazing!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful week my friend!
Beautiful series of photographs of a fascinating species.
ReplyDeleteOn the last image, is the bird on another signpost, compared to the two previous images or have you changed position ?
Cão, this is a very good question! I don't remember did I change position or not because everything was happening so fast. The signpost is the same but was blurred. I remember that the owl flew toward East but not sure about it also. It's confusing...
DeleteFabulous photography, love it.
ReplyDeleteBesos
you are fortunate to get to photograph owls. I can hear them but have never once seen them around my yard although they must be close by.
ReplyDeleteHe came, analyzed and left. A beautifully photographed bird.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo, Kaya.
Wow!
ReplyDeleteFabulous photographs …
All the best Jan
Enhorabuena. Besos.
ReplyDeleteMuy linda tu cabecera. Y el buho magnífico.
ReplyDeleteCuídate.
Un abrazo.
